The fourth trimester can be beautiful, exhausting, emotional, overwhelming, and sometimes all of those things before breakfast. A postpartum doula is there to provide essential newborn support as your family adjusts to life with your new baby. Whether you need an extra set of hands during the day, someone you trust with your baby overnight so you can finally sleep, breastfeeding assistance, or simply reassurance as you navigate parenting, we're here to help. At Moon & Stars Doulas, our approach to postpartum care isn't about coming into your home and directing how you should parent. Instead, it's about understanding your family, supporting your choices, building your confidence, and making those early days and nights feel a little less overwhelming. You take care of your baby; we help take care of you, too.

Sometimes the best thing we can offer new parents is sleep. During overnight care, your doula provides essential newborn support by managing your baby's nighttime needs, allowing you to enjoy longer stretches of restorative rest while aligning with your family's feeding preferences. For nursing families, we can bring the baby to you for feeds, then take over burping, diaper changes, soothing, and settling, so you can return to sleep. For families using pumped milk or formula, your doula can manage feeds while you rest. This postpartum care extends beyond just looking after your baby; it’s about giving parents the chance to recover, recharge, and wake up feeling more prepared for the day ahead. Rest isn't a luxury in the fourth trimester—it's a vital part of recovery and an essential aspect of the parenting resources you deserve.

Daytime support is whatever your family needs it to be. This may mean providing newborn support while you shower or nap, helping you feel more confident in newborn care, assisting with feeding, washing bottles or pump parts, folding tiny laundry, organizing baby's space, or simply being another experienced adult in the room as you navigate postpartum care and find your new rhythm. Some days you need education, other days you require an extra set of hands, and sometimes you just need reassurance that you're doing just fine. On those days, you might simply need someone to hold the baby while you sleep. We meet you where you are, offering valuable parenting resources tailored to your needs.

Feeding + Newborn Support There isn't one right way to feed a baby. Feeding + Newborn Support There isn't one right way to feed a baby. Whether you're breastfeeding, pumping, bottle-feeding, formula-feeding, combination feeding, or still figuring out what works for you and your baby, our role is to provide newborn support tailored to your family's goals, free from judgment. We can assist with early feeding questions, bottle preparation, pumping routines, positioning, newborn cues, and connecting you with additional lactation or feeding resources when specialized support is needed. Along the way, we'll help you learn your baby's cues, understand their changing needs, and build confidence in caring for your newborn. Sleep Support Starts From the Beginning Newborn sleep isn't about rigid schedules or expecting tiny babies to sleep through the night. It's about understanding normal newborn sleep patterns, creating safe and sustainable routines, recognizing your baby's cues, and establishing healthy sleep foundations as your baby grows. Our team can help families comprehend what is developmentally appropriate while creating rhythms that support both your baby's needs and parent rest. Experienced Care When the Journey Looks Different Not every postpartum journey unfolds as you imagined. Our team has experience supporting families through various challenges, including caring for premature babies, multiples, NICU transitions, medically complex newborns, feeding challenges, and postpartum recovery. We also offer parenting resources for those whose fourth trimester looks very different from their expectations. Coming home after a NICU stay can be especially emotional; after weeks or months surrounded by monitors and medical professionals, suddenly being at home with your baby introduces a new set of feelings and questions. You don’t have to navigate that transition alone.

Becoming a big brother or sister is a significant transition. Welcoming a new baby changes the rhythm of the entire family. While much of the attention naturally shifts toward birth, recovery, and your newest little one, older children are working through their own emotions, questions, excitement, and uncertainty. Our sibling doulas provide dedicated care and connection for your older children, ensuring they continue to feel safe, seen, included, and supported while you focus on labor, recovery, bonding, or newborn support. Sibling support is personalized to your child's age, personality, routines, and needs and may include: Maintaining familiar routines and schedules, meals, snacks, playtime, and everyday care, age-appropriate activities and one-on-one attention, emotional reassurance during labor or a parent's hospital stays, helping children understand and adjust to the arrival of their new sibling, preparing for and supporting that special first meeting with the baby, helping siblings feel involved without placing pressure on them, supporting bedtime, school, and other familiar routines, and giving parents uninterrupted time to rest, recover, feed, or bond with the baby. Sibling doulas can step in during labor and birth, staying with your children at home or supporting them through hospital transitions while you focus on bringing the baby into the world. Once you're home, they can continue providing consistency and extra attention during those first days and weeks as everyone settles into a new family rhythm. Sometimes, sibling support simply means ensuring your older child has someone available to play, listen, cuddle, answer questions, and keep their world feeling familiar while everything around them is changing. Postpartum care isn't only about caring for the new baby; it’s about supporting the whole family as it grows. Sibling Doula Support can be added to your birth or postpartum care or scheduled independently, based on your family's needs that encompass a range of parenting resources.
